At a young age, ambitious Anne is willing to pay any price to get ahead.  Her mysterious mentor Simone is there to help.   Once Anne becomes a mother and a successful physician, Anne must go to greater lengths to hold onto what she has.  THE TONGUE THAT TELLS ME SO examines the ethics of protective parenting, modern medicine, and virtue tested. 

 

Mariah Sage and Bruce Seymour began collaborating while taking a play writing class with Paula Vogel at Yale School of Drama.  The first professional readings of THE TONGUE THAT TELLS ME SO were presented by Legacy Theatre in Branford, Connecticut in February 2016.  Mariah Sage read the role of Anne and Keely Baisden Knudsen read the role of Simone.  The CPT Test Flight Festival production is produced by Dawn Landino, with Direction by Maureen Payne Hahner, Lighting Design and Light/Projections Operations by Benjamin Gantose, Scenic Artwork Projections Design by James Gardiner, Sound Design by James Kosmatka, and General Management by Live Wire Theatrical – Robert Ahrens and Chris Aniello.  The authors wish to thank Rebecka Jones for her contributions to early script development. The production wishes to thank Susan Kulp for her hard work and support in the development of the show.
